The new taxidermy
Mercedes Cebrián (Madrid, 1971) has published 'El malestar al alcance de todos', 'Mercado Común' (Caballo de Troya, 2004 & 2006), '13 viajes en vitro' (Blur Ediciones 2008), and 'Cul-de-sac' (Alpha Decay 2009). Her stories, poems and essays have appeared in Revista de Occidente, Eñe, Turia, Diario de Poesía, Quimera o Circumference (Columbia University, and in anthologies such as 'Mutantes' (Berenice 2005), 'El arquero inmóvil' (Páginas de Espuma 2006), 'La España que te cuento' (Funambulista 2008), and 'Pequeñas resistencias 5' (Páginas de Espuma 2010). She has been a columnist at Público, and is a regular contributer to El Viajero-El País and Cultura/s=La Vanguardia. She has also translated Georges Perec, Alan Sillitoe and Alain de Botton into Spanish. Her version of Perec's L'infra-ordinaire received Barcelona University's Mots Passants Prize for best translation from French in 2008.
