The Secret Life of Rebecca Paradise
Pedro Mañas has a degree in English Language and Literature from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where he won the Narrativa Breve (Short Story) prize in 2004. His work "Klaus Nowak, limpiador de alcantarillas" ("Klaus Nowak, Drain Cleaner"), published by Anaya, represents his first venture into the world of children's literature. In 2007 it earned him first prize in the XXVI Concurso de Narrativa Infantil Vila d’Ibi children's story competition. In 2008 Everest publishing house awarded Mañas its XII Premio de Literatura Infantil Leer es Vivir for his novel "Los O.T.R.O.S. (Sociedad Secreta)" ("The O.T.H.E.R.S. (Secret Society)"), which has been translated into various languages. He was shortlisted for the seventeenth and eighteenth Premio Edebé de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil prizes for "La formidable fábrica del miedo" ("The Formidable Fear Factory") and "Un carromato v verde botella" ("A Bottle-green Old Wagon") respectively. He is also the author of various poems for children. In 2015 he won the El Barco de Vapor prize for his book "La vida secreta de Rebecca Paradise" ("The Secret Life of Rebecca Paradise").
